For over 40 years, Rick’s Custom Fencing & Decking has remained committed to strengthening the community. Our pride in Rick’s Community Support Drive stems from the opportunity it provides our company and staff to give back to the communities and organizations that have supported us throughout the years.
For three consecutive years, our team has volunteered with Second Harvest on their food sort night. Second Harvest is a fantastic organization that strives to serve those facing hunger through education, empowerment, and partnerships. Their goal is to provide food assistance and promote access to healthy and nutritious food for everyone.
This last February, Rick’s employees and their families visited Second Harvest to help sort more than 3,600 pounds of food, resulting in over 3,200 meals for needy families. It was a privilege to contribute to Second Harvest’s mission of “Fighting Hunger, Feeding Hope.”
Second Harvest collaborates with local businesses, farmers, and individuals to gather and distribute food to food banks, meal programs, and other community organizations. Furthermore, they provide an array of programs to educate people about nutrition and cooking while offering extra assistance to those encountering food insecurity. As a result of their steadfast dedication and tireless work, Second Harvest has become an essential asset for people in need throughout the Tri-Cities area.
By providing fresh and healthy food to those in need, we hope to positively impact our neighbors’ lives and help build a stronger, more resilient community for all.
The Bite2Go program by Second Harvest is a weekend food program that supports students who face food insecurity at home by providing them access to meals on weekends when they are not in school. The Bite2Go program relies on the support of businesses, churches, and civic groups to “adopt” a school and provide students with food for the weekends throughout the school year. With the program, over 9,200 children are fed weekly across 177 participating schools.
Rick’s Fencing is proud to support the Bite 2 Go program by sponsoring 15 students at a Kennewick elementary school near our office. By providing two deliveries of food items per month, as well as financial support, we are able to make sure that 15 kids go home with food every weekend!
