Rick’s Custom Fencing & Decking has been dedicated to building a stronger community since we were founded 40 years ago. That’s why we’re so proud of the Rick’s Community Support Drive. It’s a great way for our company and our employees to support the communities and organizations that have supported us.
Second Harvest is one of the organizations that we love to support. Their mission is to bring community resources together to feed people in need through empowerment, education and partnerships. Second Harvest believes that everyone has the right to health, and nutritious food is a key ingredient in the recipe for a healthy life. They envision a world in which every person – regardless of age, race, ability, income or status – has access to the food they need to live a life full of the activities and people they love.
This past April, Rick’s employees from our Kennewick store stopped by Second Harvest in Pasco to sort over 6,000 loaves of bread to help provide over 5,000 meals for families in need. It was an honor to help and support Second Harvest in their mission of “Fighting Hunger, Feeding Hope.” Rick’s also partnered with Second Harvest in November 2021 to sort food items for vulnerable families just in time for Thanksgiving. Rick’s employees love the opportunity to give back while gathering together outside of the office. Partners and kids often join, too!
“Just wanted to take a moment and express my interest with our community volunteer events. They are a great way to tie us together as a company for the community. As large as our company is we are almost a small community. All with different personalities and likes. It is also great to bring my girls and have them help out too. Our church has a food bank it does every week on Wednesday and they get bread from the Second Harvest. Our school helps out with the event every week. “So when they started volunteer events at Second Harvest, they were like, ‘WOW, this is where the bread comes from when we volunteer with the church school.’ They feel really excited seeing the whole community coming together.”
